The Arabic, Persian, and Turkish Language Immersion Institute would like to provide all students with the funding they need to apply for and attend APTLII. Unfortunately, we do not currently possess funding that we can distribute as scholarships, as we rely on program fees to continue functioning. Regardless of this, we would like to inform students of other means for funding their studies at APTLII. Please find funding opportunities listed below. We will continuously update this page as we find more opportunities.
A great place to begin your search for funding is at your home university. There are generally scholarships and grants available to individuals through institution-specific scholarship offices (for example, UW-Madison has the Scholarships@UW page). We will not be listing funding information for all institutions served by APTLII, but we highly encourage you to seek out funding at your institution if you are interested.
We would like to provide students with the tools they need to succeed. Below is a list of relevant databases that students can search on an individual basis in order to find funding opportunities that would best fit their situation.
COS Pivot: Offers several databases for approximately 25,000 private and federal funding sources. Grants in the non-science areas are included. (Note: You must set up a personal login account using your wisc.edu email – free to UW-Madison clientele – through the COS Workbench feature for some of the COS Pivot services, however, a login is not necessary to use the database.)
Funding resources for students of different educational standing:
Resources for those who are not currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program.
Please note: these resources are meant to give you a hand in starting your search for funding, either as it relates to funding participation in APTLII or another portion of your academic career. We cannot offer individual assistance in finding funding, but we hope that these links can help in the pursuit of educational funding.
Foreign Language and Area Studies Awards applications are still open! The deadline to apply for an award through UW-Madison is February 12th. These awards are open to UW-Madison students and those from other universities who are looking to study at a Wisconsin Summer Language Institute (including APTLII). If you are interested in attending a summer language program this summer, apply for a FLAS award!
Unfortunately, FLAS awards are not open to international students at this time.
